Summer Musical Improvisation Workshops
With Avery Bargar and Sloane Miller
Come join us for a week of musical improvisation with New York City artists Sloane Miller and Avery Bargar. The workshops will include physical warm ups, vocal warm ups, improvisation exercises and somg structure exercises.
This workshop is open to students in grades 7-12.
What to Expect:
Opportunities for participants to practice improvised song structures, sing with others and sing solos.
A culminating showcase on August 8th open to friends and family at NESA.

Avery Bargar
ACCOMPANIST & IMPROV FACILITATOR
Avery Bargar is a Manhattan-based actor, musician, and improviser with over 25 years of experience on stage and behind the keys. A Boston native and veteran theater educator, Avery has helped students of all ages overcome stage fright and ENJOY performing. As a pianist, he’s played jazz, funk, rock, hip hop, and soul across the Northeast, and performed live with The Story Pirates on their 2024 national tour. In NYC, he’s a go-to music director for improv at the PIT and beyond. Acting credits include work with Actors Shakespeare Project, Central Square Theater, and Peacock’s Poker Face. His debut piano EP Hammers & Felt is streaming everywhere. Avery is also a published satirist whose work can be read in Points In Case, The Haven, and The Weekly Humorist. Sloane Miller

Sloane Miller, MSW, LMSW, MFA, ACC is a full-stack success coach with nearly 20 years of experience. As an Applied Improvisation & Public Speaking Specialist, Licensed Mental Health Professional & Behavior Change Specialist, and ICF ACC Certified Professional Coach, she empowers clients to reach their fullest potential through evidence-based coaching methods. Sloane specializes in guiding professionals across creative, medical, and technology sectors through career transitions, workplace challenges, and professional development. Her unique combination of therapeutic expertise and coaching experience makes her particularly effective in helping clients overcome creative blocks, navigate career pivots, and support recent graduates launching their careers. With her diverse background in mental health, fine arts, and professional coaching, she offers a holistic approach to personal and professional growth.
